Mitsudomoe Fail-safe Announcement

Hi, guys. Floating Sunfish here with a very important message.

I have recently come to terms with my own mortality, and the fact that I seem to be the only one currently spearheading work on scanlating Mitsudomoe has come to my attention.

I live in a depressingly dangerous country right now where every moment spent outside has a constant element of danger to it. There’s also the fact that I don’t know what’s going to happen to me even 1 second from now, so there’s literally no telling how things will go for me going forward.

What I’m saying is, in case I suddenly disappear from the internet for a very long time, say about 3-6 months or so with no status updates or replies from my email, then know that Mitsudomoe is now in your hands.

And no, I am not terminally ill, nor have I angered some mega-powerful organization that can erase all traces of me at any time — everything is perfectly normal. It’s just that no one can predict how long that’s going to last for anybody, and I don’t want this series to be abandoned just because something happened to me. It’s too precious for that.

I make it a habit to check the site and my inbox every single day, so if anybody ever wishes to check on me, I’m always available for a friendly chat at sunfishscans@gmail.com. I’ve never missed a single email in the 4 and a half years that I’ve been working on this awesome series, and I don’t plan to start now. 😉

But in case I do suddenly disappear, please don’t wait for another Floating Sunfish to come by. I would like to ask each and every one of you to step in and be better than I ever was, and to finish this awesome series with all the love and care that I’ve shown it over the years with everyone’s help.

That would make me very happy. 😌

Alright, that’s enough getting sappy for one day! Time to work on that next chapter!

Floating Sunfish, out! 😉

Now Accepting Mitsudomoe-Themed Banners!

Hi guys! I hope you all like the new site banner! (It’s a bit simple, I know, but it’s better than nothing at the moment 😛 ) Anyway, I’m now accepting Mitsudomoe-themed banners for use on the site! The rules are as follows:

  • Please generally try to keep your banners Safe for Work. If you’re familiar with Imageboard Ratings like the ones on Danbooru and Gelbooru, try to maintain a Safe rating. Banners earning a Questionable rating are also fine as long as they’re still considered Safe for Work, but definitely nothing Explicit!
  • Please state the Name you wish to be credited as in your email. No need to sign your banner images as I’ll be making a Banners page on the site (along with your Name) so everyone can see them!
  • Please keep in mind that the Site Title and Tagline (all have an RGB value of 51 or #333333) will appear in the middle of the banner. Chosen banners that make it difficult to read will be subject to editing. Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle, I promise! 😉

You can get the Photoshop banner template here (mirror 1) and here (mirror2). The Site Title and Tagline in the middle are only there for reference so there’s no need to include them in the finished image! 😉

Feel free to send me your awesome banners (recommended to be 1180 x 179 pixelsalong with your desired Credit Name to sunfishscans@gmail.com and I’ll put ’em up on the site! (They’ll all be displayed at random.) I look forward to seeing what you awesome guys come up with! No limits on the number of submissions! 😀 Floating Sunfish out!

Holy Cow! Ge.tt is Down!

I just noticed this morning that ge.tt is down. I apologize for only uploading to ge.tt as I figured it’s the most convenient uploader that won’t be too strict with copyrighted material, particularly fan scanlations, because it’s what TDX is using at the time as well.

If any of you know a better uploader that’s just as good or better than ge.tt that won’t kill links for copyright issues, please tell me at the comments below. In the mean time I’ll upload all my previous releases at mega.co.nz as well. If you know a better alternative, please tell me below!

That’s all from me for now, and I hope ge.tt gets back up soon.

[RAW] Chapters I’m Looking For

Hi guys, I’ll be keeping this list of things I need some help with at the top of the site. All my releases can be found below this post. Currently, I’m looking for:

  1. Mitsudomoe (みつどもえ) Vol. 14 [RAW]
  2. Mitsudomoe (みつどもえ) Vol. 15 [RAW]
  3. Almost Weekly Mitsudomoe (ほぼ週刊みつどもえ) [RAW] (see here, and here) – a spin-off series featuring chapters that could not be published with the original series. Seeing how crazy Mitsudomoe already is, one wonders what even crazier stuff happens in the ‘director’s cut’ version of Mitsudomoe…
  4. (OptionalKodomo Gakkyuu / The Violence School Gag (子供学級) Vol. 1-4 [RAW] (link) – this can be considered the ‘prototype’ of Mitsudomoe. In fact, the art style resembles Mitsudomoe Vol. 1 a lot. Also since it’s pretty short, I think it’s worth a while to translate — if you guys want me to.

You can send me your links at: sunfishscans@gmail.com

Alright, that’s all from me for now, time to work on the next chapter! Floating Sunfish out!

Site is Up!

Hi guys, I’m just an average guy who wants to see Mitsudomoe translated and enjoyed by its fans. Currently, these are the translated volumes and chapters that have been worked on by other scanlation groups so far:

Entire Volumes: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 12.

Partially-Translated Volumes:
Vol. 11: Chapters 192, 193 and 194
Vol. 13: Chapters 233, 234, 235, 236, 237, 238, 247 and 248

Seeing how TDX, the most-active scanlator of Mitsudomoe seems to have dropped the project due to lack of a translator, I will be picking up the series until a more competent scanlation group decides to work on it.

However, because I can’t read Kanji at all and am just depending on the Katakana and Hiragana provided beside the Kanji, progress will be slow, but steady. If there are people willing to help, I will very much appreciate it. I’m currently looking for the following:

1. RAW files of Mitsudomoe Vol. 14 and 15 (preferably with a high-quality so I can read the Hiragana/Katakana next to the Kanji clearly).

2. If you guys want to help, I request someone with a lot of free time on their hands and a decent knowledge of written Japanese to send me a Text File or Word Document (at their leisure), of their own translations of individual chapters, which I will then incorporate into the releases with due credit. Currently one page takes me roughly 30 minutes or more to complete since I’m painstakingly typing the words in Notepad++ with Hiragana/Katakana, hoping I can get the right characters and Kanji to show up, which I will then hand over to Google Translate for processing, make sense of what it generates, and THEN I apply the translation in Photoshop. I wouldn’t be doing this if I thought some other scanlation group would pick it up, which isn’t very likely — and I really want to see this series be enjoyed by its fanbase to the end.

Feel free to send your translation .txt/.doc files to: sunfishscans@gmail.com or upload them to some file hosting site. I don’t really mind what methods you use, as long as we get to see this project through. As of this writing, progress on Mitsudomoe Vol. 05 Chapter 79 is going smoothly underway. Hopefully, I can make a release every week, or at least twice every month.
