Mitsudomoe Finale Song Released!

“Promise us you won’t forget! Thank you!”

And with that, another journey with the Mitsudomoe voice cast comes to a close. 🙂

This song always manages to make me both happy and sad at the same time :/ — which is why I decided to make it the final song in the series. It’s very fitting, given how this series is bound to end in the future (which I hope won’t be for a LONG time). 🙂

Man, it’s almost been four months since I started working on these things (and *boy* were there a lot!), but I’m really glad I did it. I think it’s quite the achievement for the Mitsudomoe community as well! Thank you all for your patience with me up to this point! You guys rock! 😉

What puzzles me is how far they’ve thought-out this series — they even had a finale song and everything! That’s the kind of song that only long-runners like Urusei Yatsura and the likes can dream of — and I’m really glad Mitsudomoe decided to make it really memorable by throwing in subtle hints at every major character in the show.

I guess it couldn’t be helped that Yuki-chan never got a song since the show probably got cancelled around that point (which explains why she’s missing in the cover album where this song came from) but I guess all those songs about love sung by Atsumi Saori kinda make up for it. 😛 Anyways, happy listening! And don’t forget the tissues! 😉

Wow, this song managed to legitimately creep me out more than Sacchan’s character song, specifically around the 2:43 mark when eerie backwards music started playing.

I can handle the usual type of lyrical dissonance where lots of violent, gory and disturbing imagery is talked about just fine, but it tends to get pretty disturbing when you bring death, ghosts, hell and lost children into the mix. Continue reading

Mitsudomoe Bonus Song #4 Released!

A very nice song about the joy and pain of loving someone — and BOY does it hit close to home.

Anyways, only two more songs to go, you guys! Wish me luck! 😉

Mitsudomoe Bonus Song #3 has been released!

Wow, this song was so obscure, it didn’t even have a page on the wiki! 😛

Anyways, while it doesn’t have a whole lot to do with Mitsudomoe (just like Dream Colored Love), it’s certainly a nice, short sweet song to listen to. 🙂

Mitsudomoe Bonus Song #2 Released!

Un! Nya! Un! Nya!

Now, I haven’t seen Haiyore Nyarko-san myself, but I’ve heard the intro, and I like to think they were going for a similar feel — or it could just be my imagination. 😛

Again, not quite as catchy as the others, but still a pretty good song. 🙂

(Also, am I the only one that thinks Hitoha is flat-out rejecting Yabecchi throughout the song? Aww, but I loved that ship! Just kidding. 😛 I’m probably just reading into it too much again. Ahaha…)

Mitsudomoe Bonus Song #1 Released!

I actually appreciate this song more now that I know what the triplets were singing. Turns out it’s  about their daily school activities and their usual treatment of Yabecchi. Pretty nice song; not quite as wild and catchy as the others, but still pretty good. 🙂

Mitsudomoe Season 2 Special Ending Released!

“Don’t make endings where I die!”

Huh, that went by pretty fast… Anyway, it struck me as weird when they first played Nearer, My God, to Thee at the end of Season 2 Episode 4 since I didn’t get the reference. The Mitsudomoe Wiki explains that it was actually a reference to the scene in Titanic when it was played by the orchestra as it sank along with the ship. The more you know, I guess. 😛

Mitsudomoe Season 2 Ending Theme Released!

Wow… I had a harder time with this than I thought I would. The lyrics just felt so… shall we say “unrelated” with each other that I had an extremely tough time translating everything. I’m really glad I managed to make sense of it all, actually. For those of you who were wondering what all those words were all these years, here you go! Phew! Time for a short break! 😉

Mitsudomoe Season 2 Opening Theme Released!

I gotta say, the first time I saw this intro, I was completely blown away! Never have I seen such flashy animation and upbeat music working together in perfect harmony. The pacing was just right, everything onscreen was coherent and easy to follow… Man, the guys at Studio Bridge really upped the ante with Season 2. 🙂

Here’s hoping they (or someone else? :P) once again pick up Mitsudomoe for another season in the future. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, just in case. 😉

Only eight more songs to go, you guys!

Mitsudomoe Season 2 Special Closing Released!

Man, this has gotta be one of my favorite songs from the whole show. Masaaki Endoh really left his mark on this super-awesome series — everything about the episode was well thought-out and perfectly executed. He really made the special feel authentic and memorable to those who recognized his voice.

The whole thing was a Sentai Hero show parody through and through — the actors in the Gachi Ranger costumes were clearly different from the ones we see on the outside (Gachi Pink being the most obvious due to the drastic change in bust size as noted in one of the Yonkoma), some of the rangers wobbling while posing during the intro… Heck, they even used a stunt double for Gachi Pink that one time during the bus scene! The guys at Studio Bridge really did their homework with that episode and it showed.

I really enjoyed translating this song and I hope you guys will enjoy listening to it too! Only 9 more songs to go! Woo-hoo!
