Hi guys, Floating Sunfish here with a quick update on our current direction.
With MangaDex currently being down for the time being, and with all upcoming chapters being the usual short length, I think now would be a good time to make another batch release. It’s been so long since anybody ever got to read multiple chapters in succession, so I think it would be a nice treat after the long delays we’ve been having.
UPDATE: We’ll wait a whole week after MangaDex becomes stable before we release anything so we don’t get swallowed by the sea of pent-up releases.
The next scanlation tutorial post has also been ready for a while now — I just haven’t had the time to publish it because I still need to manually reformat it for the site. It should also follow our upcoming batch release, so please look forward to it!
I also just finished clearing out my schedule so I’ll have more time to work on Mitsudomoe, which sadly took quite a hit due to work and other real-life commitments.

My, it’s certainly been a while since I’ve made a post like this! 😊
As is tradition with all volunteers who’ve helped us with a significant portion of Mitsudomoe, I’m excited to announce that it is once again time to welcome not one, but two new members to the Sunfish Scans team! Let me introduce them!
He was gone for a while, but now he’s back in action, baby!
Our first new member is Denton who messaged me on January of last year and offered to help clean Volume 14. He managed to complete 13 of 19 chapters before I lost communication with him, and unfortunately, I still haven’t heard from him to this day.
The last message I received from him was on April of 2020, so I hope he’s still doing alright.
Wherever you are, Denton, the Mitsudomoe fanbase thanks you!
UPDATE: I just got a message from Denton yesterday (Feb. 23, 2021). Turns out his computer broke at the start of lockdown and he’s been trying to find a place that could fix it through delivery. He didn’t have his login info at the time which explains his long silence, but at least we know he’s still doing okay. 😊
Certainly a hero we all needed right now.
Our second new member is Faris Marchovsky who messaged me on December of last year (weird how both emailed me near the start and end of last year, eh?) and offered anything they could to help work on Mitsudomoe.
After I assigned them on Cleaning and Redrawing, they’ve already finished three whole volumes and are currently working on a fourth, while also filling in the gaps left by previous volunteers.
Their enthusiasm, speed, and work quality have been superb, and I’m very glad to have met them in these trying times.
To the both of you, I can’t think of a way to repay your kindness and dedication with helping us work on this awesome series other than to say thank you and to personally invite you as official members of our team.
The Mitsudomoe fanbase owes you guys a lot. 😌

I’ve had this feeling for a couple years now that some individuals and groups have been holding back on working on Mitsudomoe because it might start some scanlator drama. I am here to alleviate such concerns. 🙂
I mentioned on the very first post that I made on this site that I never intended to work on this series for very long (though I understand if no one really remembers because it’s been so long):
Seeing how TDX, the most active scanlator of Mitsudomoe seems to have dropped the project due to lack of a translator, I will be picking up the series until a more competent scanlation group decides to work on it.
I also remember mentioning this detail online a couple of times, though I sadly can’t remember on which sites anymore. So to clarify everything once and for all, I am hereby making an official statement that it is perfectly fine to snipe future chapters and volumes of Mitsudomoe from us — we only request that you let us know beforehand what you plan to cover so nobody repeats any work.

To be honest, when I first started working on Mitsudomoe, I was really hoping that my terrible releases would attract more competent scanlation groups. Like they’d take a look at them and say, “Alright kid, the professionals will take it from here!” Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you guys enjoy our releases), that day never came.
I also added a new page on the site way back in March of 2019 specifically to encourage others to work on Mitsudomoe alongside us (I even added a link to it on the sticky, but sadly no groups have volunteered to cover anything just yet). Thankfully, we have had a few volunteers that offered to do cleaning and redrawing for us which is a huge step in the right direction. 😊
I now realize that people tend to ignore stickies if they never change after a few years.
The worst we’ll probably do is upload our own version of the chapter if we feel that our version is considerably different enough (not necessarily better) — and hey, the more content for the fanbase, the better, I always say!
So please, if you or anyone you know wishes to work on Mitsudomoe, please don’t hesitate to let us know! We can use all the help we can get to finish this awesome series, and the sooner we get to that final chapter, the better! 😄

Hi, guys! Sunfish Scans here again with a new chapter of Volume 9!
Yeah, this took a lot longer than expected due to real-life issues and, well, the whole world going bananas right now. I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. 🙂
You may have noticed the little note I added to the bottom of the Chapter Progress Sticky. From now on, all releases will be made on Mondays (Manila Time).
Yeah, turns out those motivational guys were right — seeing deadlines every day on your calendar really does help keep you motivated!
Also, if I miss any Mondays in the future, it just means that they’ll be available the following week. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it actually helps keep work on new chapters consistent!

Sunfish Scans turns 5 years old today! Woo-hoo!! 🥳
Man, it’s been so long since I started this little blog that aimed to finish scanlating Mitsudomoe. 😊
We want to thank each and every one of you who’ve been patient with us and gave us tons of encouragement and support over the years.
I’ve also met a lot of wonderful people while working on this awesome series, some even going above and beyond by actually joining me in the scanlation trenches.
Today’s post focuses on another such individual.
Daniel actually volunteered to clean and redraw the entirety of Volume 10 way back on July of 2019 and finished doing it in just four months.
To this day I’m still in awe at the quality, quantity, and speed of his work. You’re truly an inspiration to us scanlators everywhere!
And as with everyone who contributed a significant amount to helping scanlate Mitsudomoe, I granted him an honorary membership to our little group right there on the spot.
I really couldn’t wait to tell you guys, but at the time I thought it would be best to wait for our very first Volume 10 release so you guys could see his work for yourselves — Daniel graciously accepting to wait a potentially long time before being publicly credited for his work.
I never expected Volume 9 to take this long (real life is just full of surprises, isn’t it?), and with Volume 10 still a long way to go, coinciding it with our 5th Anniversary felt like the perfect time to make such an announcement.
Daniel, I have no words to say other than “Thank you, and welcome to the team!” 😉

With this whole virus outbreak thing driving the whole world crazy and impacting our daily lives, I’m sure that every one of you wants this mess to be over as soon as possible.
Thankfully, the wonderful people at Folding@home have been working on an app that uses idle CPU and GPU resources of personal computers to help find viral weaknesses and develop cures.
This means that we can all use our machines right now to pitch in and help put an end to this pandemic sooner.
However, it can be a bit confusing for beginners, so I wrote this guide to help you get started:
Hi, guys. Floating Sunfish here with a very important message.
I have recently come to terms with my own mortality, and the fact that I seem to be the only one currently spearheading work on scanlating Mitsudomoe has come to my attention.
I live in a depressingly dangerous country right now where every moment spent outside has a constant element of danger to it. There’s also the fact that I don’t know what’s going to happen to me even 1 second from now, so there’s literally no telling how things will go for me going forward.
What I’m saying is, in case I suddenly disappear from the internet for a very long time, say about 3-6 months or so with no status updates or replies from my email, then know that Mitsudomoe is now in your hands.
And no, I am not terminally ill, nor have I angered some mega-powerful organization that can erase all traces of me at any time — everything is perfectly normal. It’s just that no one can predict how long that’s going to last for anybody, and I don’t want this series to be abandoned just because something happened to me. It’s too precious for that.
I make it a habit to check the site and my inbox every single day, so if anybody ever wishes to check on me, I’m always available for a friendly chat at sunfishscans@gmail.com. I’ve never missed a single email in the 4 and a half years that I’ve been working on this awesome series, and I don’t plan to start now. 😉
But in case I do suddenly disappear, please don’t wait for another Floating Sunfish to come by. I would like to ask each and every one of you to step in and be better than I ever was, and to finish this awesome series with all the love and care that I’ve shown it over the years with everyone’s help.
That would make me very happy. 😌

And now for something that I should’ve done a long time ago. 🙂
It has come to my attention that for quite some time now, SunfishScans has no longer been the one-man scanlation group that it started as.
You probably noticed that it’s no longer just me on the credits page that comes after every chapter:
You guys still read that page… right?
It’s been roughly two and a half years since Azusa first started helping out with translating this wonderfully awesome series, and she not only did a great job at it, she selflessly gave me complete creative freedom with her translations so I could keep that authentic SunfishScans flavor that has been a part of this series since Volume 5.
That’s a pretty long time to collaborate with someone. So long in fact, that I am no longer going to claim that SunfishScans is a one-man scanlation group. I consider Azusa to be a major contributor to translating this awesome series just as much as I have at this point.
Now, “How does this affect the way I’ll be helping out with Mitsudomoe?” you may ask.
It absolutely doesn’t! 😛
This group doesn’t have any perks or bragging rights to speak of aside from being the only group in existence right now that is interested in actually finishing Mitsudomoe. That’s pretty much it.
Not much of an improvement I know, but I sincerely hope that you will stick around to see that day when we finally reach that last chapter and eventually move on to bigger and better things.
Once again, from the bottom of all our hearts, thank you for everything that you’ve done for me and all Mitsudomoe fans around the world. Working on this series never would have been the same without you.

Hi guys, just dropping by to let everyone know what I’ve been up to so nobody thinks I’m dead… Again. 😛
I’ve been pretty busy this last month and a half doing nothing but research on how to better myself as a programmer, devouring several books and watching loads and loads of tutorials in the process — the reason being that I suddenly realized how little I actually knew about writing good programs in general.
I won’t bore you guys with the details, but needless to say that I managed to find out everything I wanted to know and more — and that, more importantly, this little trip to Programming Tibet is about to come to a close — possibly in 1 or 2 weeks from now (I hope).
All this training isn’t just to improve my programming skills, mind you — I assure you that there’ll be a HUGE Mitsudomoe-related payoff for this if I actually get to pull it off, but not for a very, VERY long time. Let’s just say I’ve got big plans for this series that goes WAY beyond just working on the manga. 😉
I’m sure some of you noticed the new “Chapters Left to Close Gap” and “Chapters Left to Go” counters on the top of this site.
These numbers made me realize how little Mitsudomoe we have left — 157 chapters really isn’t much when you think about it — all the more reason to cherish what little time we have left with this series while we still can.
I’ll still be on hiatus while I finish writing “Translating the SunfishScans Way”, but I’ve resolved to work on at least 1 new chapter every 3 months to keep from falling even more behind schedule than I already am. Hopefully this hiatus won’t last much longer because I am very excited to continue working on this awesome series myself. 🙂
For those who were wondering, the goal of said tutorial series is twofold:
1. To help train aspiring scanlators on what I think are scanlation best practices.
2. To rally up volunteers to help work on Mitsudomoe.
Now, I know asking for help with this series right after I said we should cherish the time we have left with it sounds contradictory, but I would rather get this series done sooner than not at all. I don’t know how long I have left in this crazy world, and I don’t feel like taking any chances. I just really, really want to see this series through to the end, and here’s hoping I actually get to see that day with you guys.
Welp, that’s all I wanted to say for now. Again, my sincerest apologies for the lack of updates these last few weeks. I can’t make any promises, but just know that I’m just as excited about the next chapter as you guys are — maybe even more.
