Announcement: Mitsudomoe Officially Concludes This August 2017

Welp… It finally happened, you guys. Norio-sensei has officially ended Mitsudomoe with the release of its final chapter a couple of weeks ago this August. We all knew it was coming, but nobody could have predicted that it would come so soon. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

It’s been a good 11 years that many fans around the world have been enjoying this awesome series, and I think we can all agree that it is both hard and sad to see such a beloved series go — it almost feels like we’re losing so many friends who we’ve come to know, love, and laugh with over the years.

I assume Norio-sensei has decided to end Mitsudomoe in order to focus on her newer series, Rororro!, and I can’t say I fault her for it — 11 years is a good run, and if you want to move on to something new, then it’s best to end the previous one properly instead of trying to juggle both series at once and not being able to give each of them the polish they deserve.

It was a bold decision, but one that we will no doubt thank her for in the coming years. I don’t have to tell anyone how hard it is to watch something you love turn into utter garbage due to the writing not being up to par with the previous releases, so I’m actually quite thankful that Mitsudomoe ended in its prime, and as good as it has always been.

I am a bit sad to say that it seems that other fans of this series aren’t taking the news quite as well, such as the owner of, a site that I often go to while translating Mitsudomoe due to its completeness in Chapter Names and other miscellaneous information about the series. Below is what seems to be his last message on his blog, translated for your convenience:

“Triplets’ Spirit” Update on the Series’ Conclusion and Termination Notice
July 08, 2017

It is quite sad that the last update will end like this.

Although we have expressly forbidden any form of spoilers in this blog, information about it has already spread all over the web — I myself having seen the proof images — and so the time has come for us to accept it as fact.

Next month’s release on September will be the final chapter of Mitsudomoe.

While writing about the “grand finale of this 11-year series”, I was honestly hoping for a title change — similar to what happened to Super Radical Gag Family — in hopes for a sequel, but that doesn’t look very likely to happen.

In light of this, I was thinking about what to do with this blog last night, just in case the series does continue… But unless something big like that happens, I have decided to close this blog by the end of August.

I thought about leaving it as a database of sorts, but it just makes me feel empty whenever I look back on it… That feeling of emptiness and loss just breaks your heart in one shot, you know?

Not even a new work by Norio-sensei can fill up this emptiness. It’s not sad or painful — it’s just… empty.

I’ve been too dependent on Mitsudomoe over the past 10 years. I’d even go so far as to say it was my entire purpose of living.

Since updates will be pointless now that the series has ended, I will take this opportunity to officially announce the end of any further updates from here on out. I’m very sorry, but I do not think I will be able to reply to any comments.

Now then, it was only for a short while, but thank you very much.

Man, I wish I could drop an encouraging comment on his site and ask him to keep it alive, but:

a) I’d have to write in Japanese, which I am terrible at.
b) He seems dead set on shutting down the site by the end of August.
c) It seems you need an account to post comments on the site, which I don’t know how to make.

I know it’s hard, but sometimes you just have to accept things the way they happen. We all knew deep down that Mitsudomoe wasn’t going to last forever, and hey, who knows? Maybe Rororro! won’t be so bad. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here’s hoping some other scanlation group decides to give it a shot, cuz heaven knows I don’t have the time to work on it. ๐Ÿ˜›

Just know that we’re all in this together, and one way or another, we’re gonna see this through to the end — at the very least, we now have a target chapter to reach. That finale’s something to look forward to, am I right? ๐Ÿ™‚

Looking forward to someday reaching that goal with you guys! ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m at least glad that we english-speaking guys have plenty of chapters yet to see! ๐Ÿ˜€ I didn’t imagine there would be a day when I’d be glad we are lagging behind ๐Ÿ˜›

I read that announcement on Mitsugo no Tamashii back in July, and I was shocked that he was taking it so hard. Of course, the news that Mitsudomoe is ending upset me too and I was depressed about it for a while, but that he would go so far as to shut down the site was surprising. It’s a shame, too, because it’s been a very useful site for help in translating, so much that I have it bookmarked on the top of my browser. Like you said, it really helps with the chapter titles, a lot of which seem to be esoteric references to things you’d have to live in Japan to know about.

In any case, even if Mitsudomoe is over, the work on translating it into English isn’t, so you could say that we’ve still got a lease on life.

Yeah, which is why I downloaded the whole site onto my laptop using HTTrack for future reference.

The only sad part is that he seems to have taken down a couple of pages on the site a couple of years back, including one with a bunch of forum posts of great Mitsudomoe ASCII art (which I was only able to save a couple of), so it’s not a perfect clone of the site, but will help in translation nonetheless.

I sincerely hope he changes his mind about shutting down the site as it is such a goldmine of Mitsudomoe-related info. :<
